North Vancouver RCMP have arrested a man suspected of being behind a series of tire slashings that took place in the Lynn Valley neighbourhood over the weekend.
Police say they received 16 reports of slashed tires on vehicles parked along Kirkstone Road, Viewlynn Drive, Lynn Valley Road, and Mountain Highway between October 25 and 26. Most of the incidents happened between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., and investigators believe there may be more cases that have not yet been reported. In each case, the tires appeared to have been punctured with a sharp object.
After reviewing CCTV footage, investigators identified a suspect and arrested him around 5 p.m. on Monday, October 27. He remains in custody pending the outcome of the investigation.
“Our investigators conducted an extensive neighbourhood canvass in an effort to advance this investigation,” said Corporal Mansoor Sahak, Media Relations Officer for the North Vancouver RCMP. “We’re urging residents to contact police if they’ve had their tires slashed so we can better understand and track these reports. A dedicated team of investigators is actively reviewing evidence, collecting CCTV footage, and putting forward charges to hold them accountable.”
Police are asking anyone who witnessed suspicious activity or has CCTV footage related to the incidents to contact the North Vancouver RCMP at 604-985-1311, quoting file number 25-22526.
