One man is being treated for serious injuries after being bitten by a dog last week. North Vancouver RCMP is seeking the owner of a dog that bit the man during this incident that occurred while the victim was out jogging.

On March 27, 2024, just before 7 p.m., the man was jogging in the 700 block of Copping Street in North Vancouver when a dog that was being walked on leash by a woman lunged and bit him. The man was seriously injured and taken to the hospital. The woman, walking two dogs, was initially confronted by the victim but refused to provide her contact details and continued to walk.

The dogs are described as Australian shepherds, identical in appearance and with brown, white, and black fur. The female is described as Caucasian, approximately 50-60 years old, 5’8 tall, wearing a purple puffy jacket, black pants and black shoes. The woman was last seen northbound on Bewicke Avenue near the train tracks.

North Vancouver RCMP is working with the City of North Vancouver Animal Control to help identify the dog owner and further the investigation, said Constable Mansoor Sahak, Media Relations Officer for the North Vancouver RCMP. We’re asking the dog owner, or anyone with information on the dog owner’s identity, to come forward and call us at 604- 985-1311 and quote file 24-5808.

Dog owners are reminded of their responsibilities to report any dog bite incidents to animal control and exchange information with the person the dog has bitten.

why be so extreme and kill the dog over this? we don’t put down people for injuring other people. Maybe the man was jogging too close to the lady and it felt threatened? we dont know the full story. The man will be OK. The dog needs behavior training and the lady does too. There are no bad dogs, just bad owners, clearly.

Why did he run close enough to get nipped? No doubt she’s responsible for her dog. But still…
