Vancouver Police have arrested a man who stole masks from a store and then attacked security who tried to stop him.
Police say a man walked into an East Vancouver retail store on Feb 22 picked up packages of face masks, tried to conceal them and flee the store.
Loss prevention officers in the store saw him and confronted the man as he tried to walk out of the store.
When they confronted the thief, he reportedly cut each of them on the hand with a sharp weapon and fled.
A few hours later, a VPD special municipal constable spotted the suspect.
He was arrested for theft and assault with a weapon, and was taken to jail.
Fortunately, the two loss prevention officers’ injuries were minor and did not require hospital treatment.
