More buses to post-secondary campuses: expanded service on UBC, SFU, and Capilano University routes starting September 1
Staff Report
August 21, 2025 9:32am

Metro Vancouver transit riders will see more buses on the road starting September 1, as TransLink adds service on 53 routes across the region, including key connections to UBC, SFU, and Capilano University.

For North Shore riders, service will increase on the 245 Capilano University/Phibbs Exchange route, along with added frequency on several routes connecting Phibbs Exchange to Vancouver and Burnaby, including the 28 Joyce Station, 130 Metrotown Station, 211 Burrard Station, 212 Deep Cove, 222 Metrotown Station, and 227 Lynn Valley Centre routes.

In a blog post, TransLink said the changes are part of its Fall Service Update, aimed at reducing wait times, easing crowding, and improving access to schools, workplaces, and busy travel corridors. The agency noted this is the largest increase in bus service since 2018, made possible through its 2025 Investment Plan.

Elsewhere in the region, service is being boosted on major Vancouver corridors, including the 14, 49, 68, 99 B-Line, and R4 RapidBus to UBC. Riders in Surrey and Langley will see more trips on busy routes such as the 321, 335, 501, and R1 RapidBus, while students traveling to SFU and BCIT in Burnaby will benefit from more frequent buses on the 143, 145, 130, and 222 lines.

Seasonal service reductions will also take effect after Labour Day. Routes serving summer destinations such as Spanish Banks (42), White Pine Beach (150), and Buntzen Lake (179) will wrap up on September 1, while the 900 Bike Bus ends for the season on September 2.
