The North Shore hosts one of the largest clusters of Iranian Canadian communities with 22,290 Canadians of Iranian and Persian origin according to the 2021 census.
With this in mind, the Museum of North Vancouver is hosting a panel discussion with three Iranian professionals about the Iranian diaspora in North Vancouver. Golmehr Kazari, Nazmi Kamal and AR Rezamand will discuss North Vancouver’s Iranian diaspora. The event will be moderated by Maryam Abedi.
The event will take place on Wednesday, February 22, from 7 pm to 8:30 pm. The discussion will explore North Vancouver’s Iranian diaspora through demographics, cuisine and historic objects through a community show and tell. Snack and light refreshments will be provided.
MONOVA Connection Speaker Series
Focused on human stories, MONOVA’s Connections Speaker Series celebrates the innovation, diversity and unique landscape communities inhabit through a fun, surprising and thought-provoking series of guests.
The series explores everything from European settlement and the journey for Indigenous people from residential schools to Truth and Reconciliation, to successive waves of immigration (from Iran, the Philippines, China, Korea and elsewhere), celebrated artists, innovators, writers and athletes, and varied North Vancouver neighbourhood cultures. The Connections Speaker Series is sponsored by the Port of Vancouver.
