The Museum and Archives of North Vancouver (MONOVA) is offers sensory-friendly Sundays for neuro-diverse visitors of all ages.

Sensory Friendly Sundays offer neurodiverse individuals, their families and caregivers, the ability to visit the museum on the first Sunday of every month, from 10 am to 5 pm. Visitors will enjoy a calm, relaxed and safe atmosphere MONOVA aims to make the space more inclusive for people on the autism spectrum.

On Sensory Friendly Sundays, MONOVA will adapt its exhibits, such as lowered lighting and sound adjustments for a more relaxed visit. A quiet space will also be available for visitors who need a break.

Visitors can also use a Discovery Pack, which contain some things that may help with the visit:

Noise cancelling headphones (adjustable for ages 3-18)

Map of the museum space

Sensory fidget toys, and some fun activities

In January 2022, Canucks Autism Network ran two trainings for MONOVA staff which included strategies for supporting individuals and families on the spectrum.

Sensory Friendly Morning is generously supported by the Ames Family Foundation.
