‘Naked Dance’ for Cancer Awareness Planned in North Vancouver

staff report
November 10, 2025 9:18am

A North Vancouver event that will take place on November 14 at 115 Victory Ship Way is reimagining how people show solidarity with cancer patients.

The Nanga Naach, meaning The Naked Dance, is being promoted as the world’s first clothing-optional cocktail dance for cancer awareness. Organizers describe it as a combination of “bold creativity and compassion,” and the start of a global movement to highlight unseen struggles faced by people living with cancer.

The event seeks to draw attention to aspects of cancer treatment that often go unspoken. While people frequently associate cancer with hair loss, organizers point out that radiation burns, skin cancers, and fabric sensitivities can make wearing clothes painful or even unbearable. The clothing-optional theme is intended as an act of solidarity with those who experience such discomfort.

More than 300 attendees are expected to join the event, which will feature signature cocktails, food trucks, and DJ-led entertainment by Adam Kruger. Organizers emphasize that the atmosphere will be “safe, inclusive, and respectful,” and that participants can choose to attend clothed or unclothed, depending on what feels right for them.

A portion of proceeds will support two local charities, the Save Your Skin Foundation and the Vancouver Friends for Life Society. Both of these organisations will have booths at the event.

According to organizers, The Nanga Naach is not meant to be a one-time celebration. They hope to make it an annual global event, held in major cities around the world, as a “celebration of courage, creativity, and community.”
