The City of North Vancouver has officially opened Topo Park, a new neighbourhood green space located at the corner of East 16th Street and St. Andrews Avenue in Central Lonsdale.
Covering 0.22 hectares, Topo Park is designed to provide an inviting, accessible space for residents and visitors to gather, play, and connect with nature. The park features a sloped lawn for informal play, custom-designed wooden play structures, a concrete slide, a climbing wall, and a harvest table. Additional amenities include a shade trellis to be installed in summer 2025, various seating options, dense plantings, shade trees, and accessible pathways with lighting.
“Topo Park captures the spirit of North Vancouver — a vibrant, playful space that celebrates our City’s natural sloped terrain,” said Mayor Linda Buchanan. “This park will serve as a hub for people of all ages, fostering connection and well-being in our growing community.”
The name ‘Topo’ is derived from the word “topography,” reflecting the design’s integration with the site’s natural five-metre slope. The park makes creative use of the terrain with elements such as a climbing wall, hill slide, and a sloped stage with stepped seating.
Construction of the park began in summer 2024 and was completed in July 2025. It was developed in partnership with Cressey Development Group as part of a nearby development agreement. Community input gathered during a 2021 public engagement process helped shape the park’s design.
Topo Park is part of the city’s broader initiative to increase green space in Central Lonsdale, complementing another park currently under construction at 1600 Eastern Avenue.
“Topo Park is a great example of how we’re enhancing public and natural spaces to meet the evolving needs of our city,” said Mayor Buchanan. “We’re committed to ensuring every resident has easy access to nature and welcoming places to gather — neighbourhood parks like this are central to that vision.”
