Exhibits in the new North Vancouver museum will be installed during the spring of 2020.
Wesley A. Wenhardt, the new director of the North Vancouver Museum and Archives (NVMA) said the exhibits are being designed by KEI Space Design, a North Vancouver-based exhibit design facility.
Wenhardt said interior finishing, carpentry and millwork will be underway in early 2020, with completion anticipated in early spring.
The work will include installing ceilings, floors, electrical and lighting and constructing feature and core exhibit galleries, as well as outfitting the lobby, community rooms, restrooms, kitchen space, offices, and meeting rooms.
The new North Vancouver museum is likely to open in the fall of 2020.
The 16000 sq. ft. museum will have a spacious room for community programmes, a garden terrace, a temporary exhibit and a permanent gallery as well as meeting space, administration area and curatorial collections workroom.
The museum will also host the iconic streetcar #153 in the museum lobby.
Located in the 100 block of West Esplanade, the new museum will have 2.5 times more gallery space and 3.5 times more area for visitor amenities than the old museum.
State-of-the-art climate-controlled exhibit and collection management areas, plus welcoming spaces for school classes, programmes and events will be provided.
