Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for North Shore, and residents are cautioned about upcoming winter weather with possible heavy snow in the week.
This weather pattern will hit Squamish on Monday night and continue through Wednesday.
On Monday evening, an arctic front is expected to sweep the province from north to south, bringing snow. Simultaneously, a Pacific low-pressure system will be making its way towards the coast from the west. The convergence of these weather systems will result in heavy snow. Snowfall warnings will likely be issued in the coming days.
Meanwhile, an Arctic Outflow Warning is in effect until Monday morning for Whistler, Pemberton, and the Sea to Sky Highway. The combination of arctic air and robust outflow winds creates wind chill values near minus 20, posing a risk of frostbite and hypothermia.
The frigid conditions are expected to persist throughout the night. Residents areas are advised to stay updated on weather reports, take necessary precautions, and prepare for winter conditions. Authorities continue to monitor the situation, and further warnings may be issued as the weather patterns evolve.
