Law enforcement officers, Special Olympics athletes, and community supporters are set to brave the cold waters at Ambleside Park to be part of the North Shore Polar Plunge.

In a press release, Special Olympics BC announced that the North Shore Polar Plunge will take place on March 4, 2026, at 10 a.m. at Ambleside Park in West Vancouver, presented in partnership with the Law Enforcement Torch Run and organized by the North Vancouver RCMP and the West Vancouver Police Department. More than 25 participants are expected to take the plunge at the North Shore location.

The event is part of a province-wide effort, with more than 500 people participating in Polar Plunge events across British Columbia. The Polar Plunge is now in its 10th year provincially and has raised more than $2 million to support Special Olympics BC athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities through year-round sport, youth, and health programs.

The press release noted that Special Olympics BC is committed to providing high-quality programs and competitions at low or no cost to athletes with intellectual disabilities, ensuring access to sport and the opportunity to build skills, health, and a sense of belonging.

Anyone can register to participate, donate to a plunger, or simply show up at Ambleside Park to cheer on those brave enough to go bold and cold.
