The fire that two people to hospital in North Vancouver was not suspicious, DNV fire service has confirmed. As many as 70 people were evacuated in the fire.
District of North Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services responded to a structure fire at 1959 Marine Drive at approximately 4:30 am on Tuesday, December 27.
Chief Brian Hutchinson of District of North Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services has announced that while the cause of the fire is not yet known, it has been confirmed as not suspicious.
Twenty-six units, ranging from solo occupancy to multi-generational family units, have been assessed as not habitable at this time. Other residents have been told they can return to their homes, according to a statement released by DNV.
Building residents who cannot return home nor stay with friends or family are being offered emergency support services provided jointly by North Shore Emergency Management and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation).
