In a social media post, the North Vancouver RCMP said the driver also did not have a valid driver’s licence and became uncooperative during the stop. The man refused to follow the officers’ directions and began opening the hood of the vehicle and working on the engine while officers were speaking with him.
The situation escalated, and the driver was ultimately arrested for obstruction. He also received nearly $1,000 in fines for having no insurance, improper licence plates, and driving without a valid licence.
Police said the incident occurred as part of ongoing proactive patrols focused on road safety. According to the post, routine traffic stops are intended to help identify violations early and prevent larger problems from developing on local roads.
