North Van RCMP appeals after ashes stolen from parked car

staff report
October 16, 2023 12:37pm

The North Vancouver RCMP are appealing to the public for the return of ashes stolen from a parked vehicle.

On October 14, around 10:30 am, North Vancouver RCMP received multiple reports of vehicle break-ins in the 500 block of W 21st St in North Vancouver. Investigators attended and learned that one of the complainants had their deceased husband’s ashes in an urn stolen from a white Kia Forte.

The picture is the identical urn stolen from the Kia Forte. The stolen urn has a date of 09-09-09.

Police have conducted extensive neighbourhood inquires to further the investigation and are now appealing to the public to help us locate the stolen urn.

“Obviously, this is something of a great sentimental value to the owner and we are hoping the perpetrator will do the right thing and return it.” said Cst. Mansoor Sahak, Media Relations Officer for the North Vancouver RCMP.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the urn or has seen it is asked to call the North Vancouver RCMP at 604-985-1311 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) to remain anonymous.
