North Van RCMP has arrested a man who was aiming a replica gun at people in North Vancouver.
Just before 10 pm last night, officers responded to a call of a man with a gun on a bus at Phibbs Exchange.
The bus driver evacuated everyone from the bus as officers sped to the scene.
The man was arrested at the scene. Investigators anticipate recommending charges of Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace, and Breach of Probation.
“Frontline officers treated this extremely seriously, following all the protocols in place for responding to incidents involving firearms,” said Sgt. Peter DeVries of the North Vancouver RCMP.
“Thankfully, it turned out to be a replica, but at the time, passengers believed it was real. As to the reason the man chose to act the way he did, we don’t really know, but we’re still investigating.”
