A motorcyclist who turned right from the left lane—cutting off another vehicle and endangering nearby cyclists—has been ticketed for an improper turn, North Van RCMP said Tuesday.
It’s #TicketTuesday, and today we’re talking about making proper turns. Did you know you can be fined for turning from the wrong lane? In this case, a motorcyclist turned right from the left lane—cutting off a vehicle and potentially endangering cyclists.

The violation was highlighted as part of a weekly road safety campaign shared by local enforcement officials under the #TicketTuesday initiative. “Turning from the wrong lane isn’t clever, it’s careless,” North Van RCMP said. “It’s unsafe, illegal, and it could cost you more than just a ticket.”
Police reminded drivers that improper turns can create serious hazards for other motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians. The fine for such infractions varies by jurisdiction but typically ranges between $109 and $167 in B.C., along with penalty points on the driver’s record.
