North Vancouver’s newest brewery invites the community to its first open house. Beva Brewing, which opened its doors to the community in December, is hosting its first grand opening on January 13. The brewery applied for a permit in 2022.

Beva is located at 1405 Pemberton Avenue. The owners say the brewery has an airy taproom with large windows, and much of the furnishings are sourced second-hand, evoking a nostalgia that perfectly matches the Norgate area vibe. The patio will be ready for use in the coming months.

One of the owners, Morgan Miller, said the head brewer, Octavio Pauley, is well-known in the brewing industry. He has won gold in Canada for his pilsner multiple times and other awards in B.C. and Alberta. As well as brewing, he is well known for his culinary talent, having helped launch the beloved pizza program at the Pie Shoppe on Powell St., famous for its sweet pies and savoury pies.

The brewery will offer high-quality Italian Deli sandwiches to its customers. The Italian American theme is also reflected in the choice of beer names, such as “Garagiola”, a Northeast style IPA, and “Sprezza ”, a lemon Saison.

“We will be hosting tours of the brewery throughout the day, and the back of house space will be open to the public, with tables and seats up close and personal to their 1500 and 3000-litre tanks,” she said.

On January 13, a lineup of beers on draft will be ready for the public, along with to-go 16 oz cans.
