North Vancouver district staff will share info about dog licences in door to door campaign

August 8, 2022 12:34pm

This month, District of North Vancouver staff will be going door-to-door in neighbourhoods across the District to share information about dog licenses.

All dogs that live in the District must be licensed annually. The collected fees help support the District animal shelter, which cares for lost and injured animals.

DNV residents can also fill in and submit this form to request their dog licence. To qualify for the reduced fee ($43.00 instead of $88.00), residents need to include proof that the dog has been altered, in the form of a certificate or receipt from a vet or animal shelter.

DNV Bylaw 5981 regulates dog licencing, leashing requirements, dog limits per household (3), aggressive dogs, pet waste disposal, commercial dog walker permit, seizure and impounding, impound/adoption fees, enforcement and penalties.

Yes, and the city cats should be indoors only with them leashed outside if wanted. Too many get hit by cars, attacked by raccoon’s etc. and nobody picks up their waste?

And cats are the number one enemy of song birds. Cats have been decimating song bird populations across major cities for years! Cats should be licenced and required to be kept indoors.

I have written several times about Semisch Pk, opposite the children’s playground. That patch of grass is used and abused by dog owners. They just release their dogs to do their daily toilet time and walk away without cleaning up. The sad part is, people picnic there and kids play there as well. If only they knew about dogs potty park.

Although there’s a sign that says “no dogs”, it’s goes unheeded. Come on, some must be there to look into such matters. Unless the city couldn’t care less. Thank you!
