North Vancouver RCMP wants to talk to bystanders who helped a senior who was the victim of a hit-and-run incident last Friday.

On March 1, 2024, around 11:15 a.m., the senior citizen was struck by a dark blue or black SUV while crossing Ridgewood Drive and Sunset Boulevard in North Vancouver. The SUV, travelling westbound, collided with the pedestrian within a designated crosswalk, causing him to tumble to the ground and sustain minor injuries.

During his report to the authorities on Monday, March 4, the senior told police he received support from numerous onlookers at the scene. Among them were two men who assisted in clearing the intersection and two women who transported him to Lions Gate Hospital for medical attention.

The police have initiated an investigation into the incident and are eager to speak with these witnesses to help identify the vehicle responsible for the hit-and-run.

Cst. Mansoor Sahak of the North Vancouver RCMP expressed gratitude for the swift and compassionate response of the witnesses, recognizing the frightening nature of the situation for the victim. To advance their inquiries, the authorities urge these individuals to proceed by contacting them at (604)-985-1311 and referencing file #24-4102.
