West Vancouver police issued a $1,150 ticket to a snowboarder from North Vancouver who was on his way to Whistler after breaking quarantine rules.
The man was supposed to be in quarantine in North Vancouver as he had recently returned to the province from California.
West Vancouver police officers pulled over his SUV on Highway 99, just south of Lions Bay, because of an expired insurance decal.
The AudiS4 he was driving also had California plates.
The man told officers he had returned to BC approximately two weeks ago and had recently renewed his work permit.
However, when police checked in with border services and health authorities, they found out the man had broken the quarantine rules.
He was supposed to be in quarantine for two more days.
The driver was issued a $1,150 ticket for breaking the rules, was asked to renew insurance online, and then ordered to turn around and go back to his home in North Vancouver.

So if his tags were not expired (or if he arrived by air and rented a car), nobody would’ve stopped him? Bravo, RCMP – good job, LOL
