Police impounded a Lamborghini Gallardo and issued tickets after a 26-year-old North Vancouver man was caught speeding south of Princeton. BC Highway Patrol officers stopped the grey Lamborghini on June 1, 2025, at 1:15 p.m. after clocking it at 130 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. Police said the man told them he was driving to a racetrack.
“Speeding above 40 km/h over the limit is an automatic vehicle impound,” said Corporal Michael McLaughlin with BC Highway Patrol. “Had he driven more responsibly, he could have had a great day at the track. Instead, he had an awkward conversation with mom.”
The driver received a $368 ticket for excessive speed and a $109 ticket for not having a front licence plate. He must also cover towing costs, a seven-day impound, and three years of high-risk insurance premiums. “The total fines and associated costs will likely exceed $2,500,” BC Highway Patrol said.
“Our first priority is to keep you and all road users safe,” McLaughlin added. “If that is not enough to slow you down, you may wish to consider whether you’re willing to light thousands of dollars of your own money on fire.”
