Christopher Ritter was in complete shock after learning he was $1-million richer after winning a Maxmillions prize from the September 2, 2022, Lotto Max draw.
“I was in a convenience store when I found out I won,” recalled Ritter. “I scanned my ticket and it came up as $1 million and a free play. I thought, ‘holy crow!’”
The North Vancouver resident, who purchased and validated his ticket at BJ & Sons Tobacconists on Melville Street in Vancouver, first told his wife of the win. “I was most excited to share the news with my wife. Her reaction was elation, she was happy!”
Ritter plans to pay off his mortgage and take his wife on a holiday to Scottsdale, Arizona to celebrate and relax poolside. On how it feels to win? “I’m thrilled and glad that I’ve had such a remarkable thing happen.”
So far in 2022, B.C. lottery players have redeemed more than $120 million from Lotto Max, a nationwide lottery game drawn on Tuesdays and Fridays after 7:30 pm.
