North Vancouver RCMP investigating stabbing at bus stop

Staff report
September 5, 2024 3:34pm

North Vancouver RCMP is investigating a stabbing that occurred early this morning at a bus stop in North Vancouver.

On September 5, 2024, at approximately 5:30 a.m., North Vancouver RCMP responded to reports of a stabbing that had occurred at a bus shelter on the south side of Marine Drive near Capilano Road.

Officers and paramedics arrived and located the victim near the Petro Canada gas station on the north side of Marine Drive. He was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. It’s alleged that the victim was sleeping at the bus shelter when a male assaulted him. The victim was able to run away and call for help. The injuries sustained by the victim are consistent with knife wounds.

Though little is known about the male suspect’s description, the investigation has determined that the victim and suspect may have known each other. A motive has not yet been identified.

“As the investigation is in its very early stages, there are a lot of unanswered questions that police are seeking answers for,” said Constable Mansoor Sahak, Media Relations Officer for the North Vancouver. “Investigators are appealing to the public and travelling motorists to help further the investigation.”

Investigators are looking for witnesses and motorists with dash cam in the area of Marine Drive and Capilano Road between 5:00 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. on September 5th. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 604-985-1311 and quote file # 24-18160.
