With the holiday season approaching, police emphasize their zero-tolerance approach to impaired driving. “Drinking and driving is not worth the risk,” stated the North Vancouver RCMP in a recent post. “Check stops will be in full effect as we prioritize everyone’s safety. Make the right choice—plan ahead and never drive under the influence. Don’t risk your life or the lives of others.”
West Vancouver police also echoed the message, warning that fines are increasing for impaired driving. They urge the public to plan and make responsible choices, reminding drivers that impaired driving endangers not just the driver but everyone on the road. Speeding also remains a significant concern in British Columbia.
With fines ranging from $138 to $483 for exceeding speed limits, police stress that staying within legal limits can save money—and lives. On average, 61 people lose their lives each year in the province due to impairment-related crashes. Authorities are calling on everyone to do their part to reduce these preventable tragedies. “Don’t gamble with your life—or someone else’s,” they remind the public.
