A North Vancouver resident is planning a trip to Europe after winning $1 million in the November 22 Lotto 6/49 draw, according to a press release from the B.C. Lottery Corporation (BCLC). Jarnal Billan said he initially believed he had won only $1,000 before a second look at his phone revealed the extra zeroes.
In the release, Billan recalled checking the BCLC Lotto! App a second time and realizing the prize was far larger than expected. He immediately shared the news with his wife, who he said was “ecstatic.” The couple has not yet chosen their European destination.
Billan described the win simply as “nice to have a cushion.” BCLC said the winning ticket was purchased at a Chevron station on Grandview Highway and Boundary Road in Vancouver and that B.C. lottery players have claimed more than $67 million in Lotto 6/49 prizes so far this year.
Lotto 6/49 draws take place every Wednesday and Saturday evening. The game includes a $5-million Classic Jackpot and the Gold Ball Draw, which guarantees a $1-million prize or a growing jackpot starting at $10 million.
