On December 12, 2025, at approximately 10:30 p.m., North Vancouver RCMP received reports of a single-vehicle collision near the intersection of Berkley Ave and Sechelt Dr in North Vancouver. Officers and paramedics arrived on scene and located a white BMW 535 that had crashed into a tree. Despite lifesaving efforts, the driver, a 19-year-old man from North Vancouver, succumbed to his injuries. The passenger of the white BMW was rushed to hospital in serious condition and is expected to survive.

The Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) has been deployed to assist with the investigation. The intersection was closed for several hours but has since reopened.

“Our Traffic Services Team is working to determine the cause of the crash,” said Corporal Mansoor Sahak, Media Relations Officer for the North Vancouver RCMP. “Investigators are looking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the collision and has not yet spoken to police on scene. If you have dashcam video from the area, we ask that you contact our investigators,” Sahak said.

“Sadly, this incident has had a tragic outcome, and our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased. If you have been impacted by this event and would like to speak with someone, our Victim Services Unit is available at 604-969-7540,” Sahak said.

Anyone who may have witnessed this incident, has dashcam video, or has information is urged to contact the North Vancouver RCMP at 604-985-1311 and quote file number 25-25963.
