A pickup truck driver was seriously injured Tuesday morning after a collision with a West Coast Express train at the Reed Point Marina rail crossing.
The crash happened just before 7:30 a.m., when emergency crews from the Port Moody Police Department and other first responders were called to the scene.
According to preliminary reports, the truck’s driver failed to yield at the crossing and was hit by a westbound commuter train. The force of the impact ejected the driver from the vehicle. Police say the person suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.
The train, carrying morning commuters, was halted for roughly an hour while crews secured the area and attended to the injured driver. Service has since resumed, with the train continuing on to its original destination.
The investigation has been turned over to the CPKC Police Service, which is responsible for railway incidents.
