Paid parking at Lynn Canyon: How DNV residents can apply for exemption

Staff report
March 11, 2021 8:00am

A $2 hour parking fees will be in effect at the popular Lynn Headwaters Regional Park from March 29 to October 31.

However, DNV residents who live on streets marked Resident Parking Only (RPO) or Resident Exempt (RE), can apply for a permit that will allow them to park on the street.

Visitor passes are also available.

District is also offering a ‘contactless’ method of applying for or renewing parking permits so locals won’t have to come to the district hall in person.

How to apply for or renew a permit

To apply, citizens need to:

Scan or photograph a valid drivers licence and the entire first page of their vehicle registration (both pieces must show your current address)

Email these documents, along with your phone number, to eng@dnv.org

DNV will review the documents and then follow up if officials require additional information. Once a permit has been prepared, DNV will send a link that can be used to pay the fees online with a credit card.

The fee for 2021 is $30.11 plus GST per decal.

After the payment is processed, the parking decal will be mailed to residents.

There are two different types of resident parking zones in the District.

Resident Parking Only (RPO)

A Resident Parking Only (RPO) zone is an on-street area where parking is restricted to those residents whose vehicles are registered to an address within the zone. Residents who qualify can park in the zone for up to 72 hours with a permit.

Non-residents are not permitted to park within the RPO zone at any time.

Resident Exempt Zone (RE)

A Resident Exempt (RE) zone is an area where residents whose vehicles are registered to an address within that zone are exempt from the existing on-street parking restrictions, for a period of up to 72 hours.

Non-residents are permitted to park within the RE zone as long as they observe the time restrictions.

If you have questions about resident exempt or resident parking only decals, please contact the Engineering Services Department.
