The City of North Vancouver has launched a Park Ambassador Program to ensure social distancing in local parks.
CNV’s team of ambassadors will be in local parks and on trails to keep an eye out for physical distancing.
“While sunny weather can make it very tempting to get outside and enjoy our wonderful outdoor spaces and people places around the City, we must follow the orders of our health authorities for everyone’s health and safety and to ‘flatten the curve’,” the city said.
“The more people in our parks and on our trails, the more difficult it is to keep the required two metre space between each other. So, our Park Ambassadors will be patrolling our parks and trails for the health and well being of our community, making sure people are following guidelines and demonstrating what two metres looks like.”
Compliance concerns can be submitted to bylaws staff at bylaw@cnv.org or 604.982.8302.
The District of West Vancouer has also launched a Park Ranger program to ensure people are maintaining physical distancing while enjoying the outdoors.
Park rangers will be present seven days a week at popular parks and trails in West Vancouver to monitor physical distancing compliance.
They can be identified by their brightly-coloured yellow and orange vests.
Park rangers will work closely with bylaw officers and will also patrol parking areas to advise people who are parking illegally that they will be ticketed and possibly towed.
