Park Royal or Ambleside Park? West Van seeks views on youth centre location

Staff report
November 11, 2021 9:49am

The District of West Vancouver is seeking public opinion on where the community would like a Youth Hub to be set up in West Vancouver.

The Ambleside Youth Centre used to be West Vancouver’s primary dedicated youth space, but was closed in early 2019 after roof failure.

In March that same year, the building was destroyed by a fire. A temporary youth centre was set up in July 2020 at Park Royal Shopping Centre until a permanent solution was found.

Council is now considering two site options for a permanent youth centre: Park Royal Shopping Centre, or the former site of the Ambleside Youth Centre in Ambleside Park.

The public information meeting will be held on Saturday, November 20 at 1 pm.

It will be held at the Youth Hub at Park Royal South, 706 Main Street, the former location of Kin’s Market.

To attend, RSVP by email to Lenna Nakamura, Youth Outreach Worker, at lnakamura@westvancouver.ca

West Vancouver has also set up a survey where people can learn more and inform Council’s decision.

The survey will be open until November 26, 2021, at 4 p.m.
