Parking lots at John Lawson Park in West Van to be closed temporarily

Those visiting the park can also expect construction noise

Parking lots at John Lawson Park will be closed as BC Hydro starts repair work on a substation starting this week. BC Hydro will be conducting repair work on the John Lawson substation from Monday, February 6 to the end of March. The work is needed to repair a transformer within the substation and ensure it operates safely. No scheduled power outages are required for this work, though there will be impact to traffic and parking.

 

What are the impacts?

Construction hours will be 7 am to 5:30 pm, Monday to Saturday, with some days requiring work until 6:30 pm. Here are some impacts to the public

Those visiting the park can expect construction noise

Drivers wishing to park may enter the west parking lot and proceed to the east parking lot via a single lane.

Both the east and west parking lots will be closed on Monday, February 6, until approximately 9 am. for site mobilization.

Both the east and west parking lots will be closed on Thursday, February 9, between 9 and 11 p.m. for site mobilization. In order to expedite the project, some work will take place outside of regular construction hours.

Residents are being reminded that District bylaws concerning permitted hours of construction do not apply to emergency repairs to public utilities and services. If you have any questions about this project, please contact BC Hydro at 1-866-647-3334 or projects@bchydro.com.
