Pay parking is now in place at Ambleside Park in West Vancouver, effective Monday, September 15. Parking is enforced year-round from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week.

According to the District of West Vancouver, all areas of the park are included in the program except those where the Squamish Nation holds rights. Vehicles displaying Veterans or Memorial Cross licence plates or valid accessible parking placards are exempt from fees.

West Vancouver residents are eligible for a free annual parking pass. To qualify, they must apply with proof of vehicle registration to a West Vancouver address. Applications take about two business days to verify and can be submitted online here.

Visitors must pay hourly rates. Payments can be made through the hangTag and PayByPhone mobile apps or the Impark website. Signs with QR codes have been placed throughout the park to assist users.

The district also launched a one-year pilot project introducing two physical pay stations. These are located at Lighthouse Park and Whytecliff Park and allow visitors to pay with a credit card in addition to the existing mobile options.

“Pay parking helps manage demand at busy parks while providing more flexibility for users,” the District of West Vancouver said in its announcement.

What about people who don’t use their phone with apps, they choose not to or they don’t know how or they don’t like to, generally, they are seniors. How are they supposed to pay for the parking?

squeeze more $$$ out of the taxpayer. There is no limit to the taxation as well as wages and benefits to municipal employees
