A community petition is calling on the District of West Vancouver to help keep Batch, a seasonal social space in Ambleside, open beyond this year.
The online petition was launched on Change.org and urges the District to “make a permanent commitment to this space and work with the owner to keep it open.
According to the petition, the site brings together families, pets, and residents over food, drinks, and live music. As of this week, more than a thousand people have signed the petition in support. Many commenters on the page express appreciation for the space and concern about losing it if no long-term plan is reached.
In a draft letter addressed to the city council included in the petition, the organizers urge the city to work with Batch owner to make the site a permanent fixture in the community. “This could be through granting a long-term lease,” the petition letter reads.
The petition does not specify a deadline or a formal next step but calls on the District to recognize Batch’s social value and explore ways to ensure its continued operation in Ambleside.
