Police investigate attack on dog walker in Richmond

Police are looking for a woman in her 30s in this stranger assault.
October 5, 2023 2:02pm

Richmond RCMP is investigating a stranger assault of a dog-walker in the community.

Shortly before 2:30 p.m. on September 24, 2023, a 65-year old woman was walking her dog near the north west corner of Moffatt Road and Blundell Road. The dog walker was approached by a suspect, a woman possibly in her 30’s.

The suspect allegedly struck the dog-walker in the face then proceeded to pour some type of beverage over her before fleeing the area on foot. Both were not known to one another. The motive for the attack is unclear.

Police were notified of the assault some time later by a family member of the victim. The suspect is described as a female, in her 30s, dark shoulder length hair. She was carrying a gray backpack, and was wearing blue jacket and dark pants.

“We recognize the effects that a such a crime can have on our community and public safety” says Inspector Mark Baxter, Operations Officer Richmond RCMP. “This matter is being treated very seriously and will be investigated fully,” adds Insp. Baxter.

Richmond RCMP is actively investigating this incident and is asking anyone in the community who may have information, to contact us and quote file# 2023-30282. This area around Moffatt Road
