Police investigate child luring incident at Birkenhead Lake Provincial Park

RCMP are investigating a possible child luring incident between September 4 and 8 at the Birkenhead Provincial Park in Pemberton and Mount Currie.

On September 4, around 7:30 pm, Pemberton RCMP received a report of an incident at the Birkenhead Lake Campground.

Two children were in their camper when they noticed a man staring at them through the window. The man subsequently tried to open the locked camper door.

The suspect was reported to have been walking the trails and staring at children. He is described as a Caucasian male, tall, grey hair, wearing a brown jackets and boots.

On September 8, at approximately 2 pm, Stl’atl’imx Police also received a call about a suspicious person who had attempted to lure an 8-year-old child into his vehicle in the 200 block of Eagle Drive in Mount Currie.

“Police are reminding the public and their families to stay alert and vigilant. Report any suspicious vehicles or people of interest to your local RCMP at the time of the occurrence.”

Anyone with information about this child luring incident is asked to call the Pemberton RCMP at (604) 894-6634.
