Staff report
December 22, 2021 10:20am

West Vancouver police are seeking assistance from the public to help identify a suspect after a senior was assaulted in the early hours of December 18, 2021.

The 80-year-old male victim was walking alone at Park Royal South near the Eddie Bauer store shortly after 7:30 am on December 18.

He noticed a man walking towards him and as they passed each other, he greeted the man with a friendly “good morning.”

The suspect then turned around, shoved the victim to the ground, and walked away. Luckily, the victim did not suffer any serious injuries as a result of this assault.

The suspect is described as male, 6’1” tall, slim build, and was wearing a black jacket with orange shoulders and hood, and black pants.

“We hope that somebody may recognize our suspect,” says Cst. Kevin Goodmurphy. “This incident is particularly disturbing, given that this assault was totally unprovoked.”

Investigators have obtained CCTV footage of the incident and are releasing an image of the suspect.  Anyone with information is asked to call West Vancouver Police at 604-925-7300 regarding police file 21-14296.
