A 29-year-old individual was arrested at a residence in the 300-block of Stevens Drive in West Vancouver as part of a major investigation led by the Surrey RCMP Drug Unit into an illicit cannabis distribution network. The arrest followed a search warrant executed on October 10, 2024, which uncovered a significant cache of drugs, firearms, and cash.

Items seized from the West Vancouver residence included $145,000 in cash, over 1,000 psilocybin-infused chocolate bars, four kilograms of psilocybin, 700 pounds of dried cannabis in various stages of packaging, three shotguns, three submachine guns and ammunition.

The investigation began in early September 2024 when Surrey RCMP responded to a report of illicit cannabis distribution. Officers initially seized four large boxes of cannabis from a shipping business in north Surrey. On September 29, 2024, the Drug Unit intercepted a second shipment from the same location, seizing 170 pounds of vacuum-sealed cannabis.

Cpl. Sarbjit K. Sangha, Media Relations Officer for Surrey RCMP, highlighted the risks posed by illegal cannabis products, which are not tested or quality-controlled and may contain harmful contaminants. “Targeting offenders involved in the illegal drug trade in our community continues to be a top priority for the Surrey RCMP Drug Unit,” said Cpl. Sangha.

The investigation remains ongoing.
