Police seek witnesses to a serious hit-and-run in West Vancouver

West Vancouver Police police are seeking witnesses to a serious hit and run that has left a West Vancouver resident seriously injured.

At 9:53 am, police was called to the 700 block of 15th Street, West Vancouver.

According to the police, a 62-year-old West Vancouver resident was walking on the west side sidewalk of 15th street when he was struck from behind by a vehicle travelling southbound on 15th street.

The man was carried on the hood of the vehicle for half of a block before ending up on the ground.

He was rushed to the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Witnesses reported the vehicle involved continued southbound and made no attempts to stop.

The suspect vehicle is believed to be a 2001-2003 model Toyota Rav-4 white in colour. The vehicle will likely have significant damage to the front end and undercarriage.

“This is a very serious incident that resulted in very significant and potentially life altering injuries.” says Cst. Nicole Braithwaite “We are urging the driver to do the right thing and contact the police.”

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has dash cam footage, is asked to contact West Vancouver Police at 604-925-7300 and reference file #20-2805. If they wish to remain anonymous, to visit www.solvecrime.ca or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
