Police seek witnesses to hit and run that injured pedestrian

Police officers found the pedestrian in the middle of the road, screaming in pain
Staff report
December 7, 2019 10:59am

Vancouver Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run late last month that resulted in serious injuries to a pedestrian.

The incident happened just after 7 pm on November 29.

Police believe a vehicle struck a 51-year-old man near Kaslo and Franklin streets and then drove off without stopping.

Police officers found the pedestrian in the middle of the road, screaming in pain. The male was taken to hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

“Despite a lengthy and ongoing investigation, investigators have yet to identify the driver and vehicle involved,” says Constable Tania Visintin, VPD. “VPD are now appealing to the driver, and anybody with information to come forward.”

The victim is still in hospital.

Police are looking for a dashcam video from anyone who may have been traveling on Kaslo or Renfrew between McGill and Hastings, or on Hastings between Kaslo or Renfrew, between 7 and 7:15 pm on November 29.

Anyone who witnessed the collision, or passed through the area and has dashcam video, is asked to contact the VPD Collision Investigation Unit at 604-717-9360.
