West Vancouver Police is urging residents to be vigilant after increased residential break-ins.
To help residents safeguard their properties, police suggest several security steps, such as promptly reporting suspicious activities, ensuring home alarm systems are operational, and using modern, high-quality CCTV cameras. Other tips include securing safes in concealed areas, particularly outside the master bedroom—a frequent target for thieves—and keeping ladders stored indoors.
Police also encourage residents to join the WVPD’s Blockwatch program, share travel plans with neighbors, and install motion sensors in master bedrooms to detect intruders.
“We are alerting the public to this crime trend in the hope that residents can review their home security plans and take proactive steps to prevent themselves from falling victim to this type of crime”, said Sgt Chris Bigland.
