Strong winds overnight caused some significant outages in Metro Vancouver, including damaging a few transmission lines on the North Shore.

Work is underway to repair the damage in West Vancouver and North Vancouver, including three poles that need to be replaced, BC Hydro said.

The power is expected to be restored by 4 pm today.

“All available crews have been mobilized and will work to restore power to other affected customers in the region as quickly as possible,” BC Hydro said.

Individual restoration times will be provided as soon they are available.

The following schools on North Shore will have a delayed start until 11 am on Tuesday, November 9 due to Power Outage:

Braemar, Canyon Heights, Carson Graham, Cleveland, Handsworth, Highlands, Larson, Montroyal, Mountainside, Westview.

Parents will receive a message through SchoolMessenger.
