District of North Vancouver will be holding public hearing for a mixed-use housing development at the former Travelodge site at 2050-2070 Marine Drive. The pubic hearing will be held in the district hall or online next Tuesday, June 7, at 7 pm, at the District hall or online.

The site consists of four commercial properties: Travelodge Hotel, Pho Japolo Restaurant, Denny’s Restaurant, and the Earl’s Restaurant parking lot. The restaurant itself is not part of this application, as it is located in West Vancouver.

IBI Group has applied to develop the site with 77 market rental apartments and 158 owned apartments in a 27-storey tower with adjacent townhouses. The development will also have 54 apartments in a nine-storey building with adjacent townhouses, as well as 41 non-market rental apartments in a four-storey building.

Two floors of underground parking with a total of 373 parking spaces (337 for residents, 34 for visitors, and 2 for commercial), a small commercial space, and a new public park is also proposed on Curling Road. Approximately one-third of the land for the park was provided by the Grouse Inn redevelopment, and the remaining two-thirds will be provided by the Travelodge rezoning proposal.

The park is expected to include an adventure playground and a passive recreation area. The application will be presented at a public hearing, and it is an opportunity for residents to speak to council if anyone feels their interest in property will be affected by a proposed development.
