A man was arrested at Lonsdale Quay after officers discovered contraband tobacco and cannabis during what began as a minor public incident.
According to a social media post from North Vancouver RCMP, the man was stopped for urinating in public and drinking alcohol in public. During the interaction, he pulled out unstamped cigarettes and was arrested under the federal Excise Act.
Police said a further search uncovered more unstamped cigarettes along with illicit cannabis. All of the items were seized for destruction.
In their post, RCMP added: “If you choose to drink or pee in public, expect to get our attention, and maybe more than you bargained for.”
