District of North Vancouver will be considering a rezoning application for a six-storey rental apartment building in the Maplewood neighborhood.

Integra Architecture Inc has applied to develop a six-storey building with 55 market rental apartments and parking for 47 vehicles and 66 bicycles.

The site at 328 & 332 Seymour River Place is  currently occupied by two detached single-storey homes, and is surrounded by three-storey multi-family apartment block to the north, and a row housing to the east.

The development will require rezoning and a development permit for form and character, creek hazard, and energy and water conservation.

While development applications continue to be received by the District of North Vancouver, processing times are likely to be extended because of COVID-19.

This will provide additional time to receive public input on the application, district said.

The site falls under the Maplewood Village Centre, one among the village centres which are envisioned as ‘complete and balanced’ community with thriving local jobs and businesses.

An application for a 31-unit apartment building is also under consideration in Maplewood and a 32-unit apartment building on Marine Drive. That application was made in December last year.

The application by TRC Construction to redevelop the 2045-2075 Old Dollarton Road, currently home to five tenants, including the popular Belmondo Café.
