Council of North Vancouver gave three readings to a rezoning application for a Balanced Housing Lab pilot project at 115 East Keith Road.
The project will allow for a six-storey rental apartment building with 74 units near Victoria Park. Public hearing will be held on June 13.
Cascadia Development has applied for a rezoning application to allow 74 rental units in the six-storey building at 115 East Keith Road. This double-fronting site is located directly south of Victoria Park and fronts on East Keith Road and East 6th Street.
There will be parking space for 44 vehicles and 119 bicycle parking spaces over two underground levels. Eight units are proposed as mid-market rental units that would be secured through a Housing Agreement for the life of the building.
The proposal also provides approximately 100 square metres of indoor amenity space, a room for gatherings and bike wash area, and an outdoor rooftop amenity space with gardening plots, lounge areas and play space. According to a report by the City of North Vancouver, the proposed housing mix meets requirements of the Housing Action Plan for a minimum 10% mid-market rental units and a minimum of 10% three-bedroom units to support families.
Cascadia is providing $1,861, 601 in community benefits.

“Council of North Vancouver gave three readings to a rezoning application for a Balanced Housing Lab pilot project at 115 East Keith Road.” — would be a violation of section 465 of the Local Government Act since adoption (4th reading) would not allow for council council consideration or debate. The usual practice is to give only 1st reading before sending the issue to a public hearing. Perhaps there was a “typo” error in the article?
