North Shore restaurants and businesses have so far donated 2,355 meals, 8,345 snacks, and 2,440 drinks to health care workers at the Lions Gate Hospital.

The donations are highly appreciated and more are needed.

Lions Gate Hospital Foundation is encouraging restaurants and businesses to get in touch with them on how to get involved.

The food needs to be ready for consumption as health care workers can’t go into kitchen to warm up the food, said Yolanda Brooks, the communications manager for the foundation.

From coffee and breakfast to lunch and dinner, all kinds of meals are needed and appreciated. People willing to help can also group together to pay a restaurant for the meals, she said.

“In order to minimize health risks to our staff and the public, we can only accept food donations that are prepared in a licensed facility and individually packaged or placed in to-go containers,” she said.

From coffee and breakfast, to lunches and dinner, all meals donated are appreciated, she added.

Those interested in donating meals can fill out the form and email it to jennifer.mcdonald@vch.ca. Deliveries will be made to the East 15th Street entrance of the Lions Gate Hospital.

Brooks said the foundation is thankful to the following restaurants and businesses who have donated meals for health care workers:

A&W Friendship Foods, Accord Financial, Arbonne, Ash Abhyankar Ayoubs, Jonathan ‘Bear’ Yeung, Canada Post North Van Delivery Centre, COBS Bread Park & Tilford, Donair Dude, Earls Ambleside, Fortis Group, Peter Rolvink, John Booth, Thomas Zingg and families.

The donations have also been given by Neptune Terminals, Palki Restaurant, Remedy Drinks Canada, Rogers Chocolates, Virtuous Pie, Kelsie and Morgan Real Estate Group, Old Dutch Foods Ltd, COBS Bread Capilano, Matkaluk Construction, Kit + Coop, Arbonne, Rockstar Energy, Two Daughters Bakeshop, KOKOMO, Hudson Pacific Properties, Cora Breakfast & Lunch, Blue Monkey Drinks, Tempered Investment Management Ltd., Vega/Sequel Naturals, Fresh Slice pizza, Amica Edgemont Village, and Arbonne Rockstar Energy.
