Authorities have suspended the search for a missing kayaker in West Vancouver.
“The search for the missing kayaker has been suspended at this time,” said Sgt. Chris Bigland, media relations officer with the West Vancouver Police Department. “The WVPD continues to investigate any information received that may assist us in locating the missing person.”
The 36-year-old man departed from Batchelor Bay on his kayak yesterday, November 19, at approximately 12:40 p.m., on what was supposed to be a short paddle.
He was last seen rounding Whyte Islet, heading North towards Whytecliff Park. He did not return by his anticipated arrival time of 2:30 p.m. and was reported missing shortly after 4 p.m.
The missing man is 36 years old, 5’ 10”, and 170 lbs, and has dark brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black rain jacket, black track pants, and black flip-flops, and was in a white collapsable kayak.
