A mayoral candidate in Vancouver says he is committed to a new Sky train that will connect the North Shore with Vancouver and beyond.
“ABC is committed to a new Skytrain line across the Second Narrows bridge, connecting the regions North Shore and South Shore, with a Skytrain station at the PNE,” said Ken Sim, part of A Better City (ABC) coalition.
Sim was addressing the media at Hastings Park, where he was also joined by current Mayoral candidates and Mayors Mike Little of the District of North Vancouver and Richard Stewart of Coquitlam to discuss the importance of speaking with a unified voice to secure senior government transit funding.
“The North Shore has been cut off from the South Shore for too long, it’s time for us all to get together and make this rapid-transit connection a reality,” said Mayor Mike Little. Sim said the mayors need to work together to ensure that Metro Vancouver gets the funding for a Skytrain connection to PNE.
In addition, Maple Ridge Mayor and Mayoral candidate Mike Morden also weighed in with a statement of support: “Mayors in the Northeast sector have been working in collaboration from the outset. This approach proved of vital importance to achievements made working together for a safe, equitable and accessible public transit service for our region.”
