Sports car driver ticketed for hit-and-run on Highway 99

STAFF REPORT
September 9, 2021 11:42am

On September 4, 2021, RCMP investigated a report of hit and run after the driver from a red sports car side swiped another car on Highway 99 near Lions Bay.

Police located the driver of the sports car, completed their investigation, and issued the driver a violation ticket under the Motor Vehicle Act for failing to remain at scene of an accident.

Neither driver from the hit and run sustained any injuries in this incident.

Meanwhile, with teachers and children back in school, local roads will be busier than usual, and ICBC is asking drivers to stay focused on the road and watch for children, especially around school zones.

Every year in B.C., five children are killed and 370 are injured in crashes while walking or cycling. In school and playground zones, 66 children are injured in crashes every year.

Last year, over 6,940 drivers were ticketed for speeding in school and playground zones in B.C.
