Spun-out vehicles on Highway 1 in North Van; expect delays

Staff report
February 4, 2025 8:03am

A vehicle incident on Highway 1 eastbound between Lynn Valley Road (Exit 19) and Mountain Highway (Exit 21) has blocked the right lane, causing delays as winter conditions lead to multiple spinouts, according to DriveBC.

⚠️#BCHwy1 – There are multiple spun out vehicles westbound between Mountain Hwy and Lynn Valley Rd in #NorthVan in the right lane.
Please slow down and drive to winter conditions.❄️

Officials are urging drivers to slow down and use caution, as slippery roads and poor visibility have resulted in several vehicles losing control. Westbound traffic heading up The Cut is also affected, with crews en route to assist.

The District of North Vancouver is reminding drivers to take extra precautions during snowy conditions. They advise maintaining a safe distance from other vehicles, checking tire pressure regularly, keeping windshield washer fluid topped up, and ensuring gas tanks remain at least half full in case of emergencies.

An emergency car kit is also recommended for those traveling in winter conditions.
